Carol Rogne - Artist

Carol Rogne_edited.jpg

I have always lived between two worlds—the analytical and the artistic. After a long career as a technology consultant and accountant, I now devote myself fully to abstract painting, returning to numbers only when I need a moment of calm. This balance defines me.

I create layered abstract works in acrylic, often incorporating collage. My paintings are loose and expressive, yet grounded by an underlying structure—an echo of my analytical nature. My process is iterative: I begin with playful color, build depth through successive layers, and take risks that shift the painting’s direction. Collage enters later, integrating elements of my life such as painted papers, meaningful maps, or even accounting ledgers. Glazes and additional paint weave these materials into the final composition.

I want viewers to linger, discovering the history of marks, hidden passages, and quiet surprises within the layers. My work reflects both my joy in daily life and the tensions of the world around us. A painting is complete only when it feels authentically mine—rich with color, texture, depth, and the many dimensions that shape who we are.
